Modwheel is linked to Sample Volume; Less sample = less high-end sparkle
Mess around with the Macros to adjust the tone for your use! Macro 3 [High End] is especially important - I like it at ~47%.
In a mix, you'll probably want to use another EQ to cut away more low end, maybe use a low shelf at ~260 Hz
Consider running this through Slate Digital's free plugin, Fresh Air. It adds just a bit more high-end sparkle. I like setting both mid and high to 44%.
